Frequently asked question’s (FAQs)

What are the benefits of in-home speech therapy compared to clinic-based services?

In-home therapy provides a personalized experience that is directly relevant to your child’s daily environment. It helps us work on communication goals that apply directly to home life, family interactions, and everyday routines.

How often will my child receive therapy sessions?

The frequency of therapy sessions depends on your child’s specific needs, which we determine after the initial evaluation. Most children receive sessions once or twice a week to maximize consistency and progress.

How long does each session last, and what can we expect during a typical session?

Sessions typically last 30, 45, or 60 minutes, depending on your child’s needs and attention span. During each session, we’ll focus on targeted communication skills through play-based activities and structured exercises, and there will be time for family consultation.

Will I be involved in my child’s therapy sessions?

Absolutely! We encourage family involvement to help you learn strategies to support your child’s communication development. I’ll guide you on ways to practice these strategies between sessions.

What should I prepare or have ready for the therapy sessions at home?

No special preparation is usually necessary. I may suggest having a quiet, comfortable space and some of your child’s favorite toys or activities available to help keep sessions engaging and relevant.

How are therapy goals set, and how will we measure progress?

Therapy goals are set after the initial evaluation and are tailored to your child’s strengths, needs, and family goals. We measure progress through regular check-ins, informal assessments, and by observing your child’s growth in real-world communication.

Do you provide bilingual services, and how are Spanish-English needs accommodated?

Yes, we provide bilingual therapy for Spanish-English speaking families. Sessions are conducted in the language that best supports your child’s communication development, with an emphasis on honoring their unique cultural and language background.

What if my child has other therapies or treatments? How will you coordinate with other providers?

I believe in a collaborative approach to care and will work with other professionals involved in your child’s treatment. With your permission, I’ll coordinate with teachers, occupational therapists, or medical professionals to create a unified plan.

What payment options are available, and do you accept insurance or provide Superbills for reimbursement?

We currently accept various payment options, including cash, check, credit card, HSA, and FSA accounts. At this time, we are out-of-network with insurance companies but can provide a SuperBill for you to seek potential reimbursement through your insurance.

How soon after a referral can my child start receiving services?

Once we receive a referral from your child’s primary care doctor, we’ll contact you to schedule an evaluation. Our goal is to begin services as soon as possible, depending on appointment availability.
